For those that knew, admired and miss Cathy Manning Muir's acerbic writings, her husband, John, has informed a few of us that she is still with us.  After nearly a year recovering from her brain cancer surgery, she is struggling mentally and physically to regain some of her past abilities.  For a writer, her inability to currently express herself and move around with some grace, is as you can imagine, frustrating.  Cathy was one of Germantown's bright female lights and lit up this site in the past with many interesting posts.  Good for some of us, not so good for others that drove her away and temporarily closed down this site.  Whatever your feelings regarding Cathy, our home girl could use your prayers.  Long live Catherine Manning Muir, a former Hollow girl.

Germantown Girl

It was a great uplifting feeling seeing that Cathy Manning Muir is recovering from her cancer surgery. I did not know her, but I am sure we passed each other many a time since I stayed at my grandmother’s house on Tacoma St. on weekends, just up the street from where she lived.       I said that I did not know her, but I learned more about her and her accomplishments and her feelings than anyone else on the Germantown site. I would just say that I know she is proud on what she did making her life, even with the rocky moments.       Just a few days ago I went up to a bakery in Conroe Texas run by Tim Schenk, this was my first time going there and meeting them, they are a lovely family and Tim is a third generation of the Schenk’s Bakery family on Wayne Ave. and Clapier St. I got myself among other things a George Washington cake. Now since the old bakery is Cathy’s old stumping grounds I know she would love it if we could get one to her----
